Hello and thank you for choosing to adopt a dog through All Dogs Great And Small Dog Rescue, UK
This is a short summary of the process of adopting a dog from Romania through us.
Remuneration :
The adoption fee is a donation of £250 for each dog, this purely covers the costs to the rescue for spay/ neutering (>7mnths old) vet check, EU pet passport necessary to travel, micro-chipping and vaccinations – DHPPI, Lepto 4 / Vanguard 7, rabies KC , de-flea treatment, internal & external worming. 4DX & Brucellosis tests.
There is also a transportation fee of ~£255 from Romania to your home address in England & Wales or a meeting point (Fife area -negotable) in Scotland if the address is North of Glasgow.
Delivery:
The dogs are transported in a purpose built animal transport van with air conditioning & individual cages with food & water provided. Due to the size of Romania & the various pick up points from rescues the journey to the crossing @ the channel tunnel is varied with each journey, however we are given an estimated day of arrival prior to departure. The Average journey time is 3 days ( including rest stops) to Calais; here the dogs have to go through animal transport checks before crossing to the UK. Train time is 30 mins.
Queues are again variable, but we are all kept up to date by drivers in you dedicated transport chat group on fb messenger, you will be added to this once the van has left Romania, so you MUST ensure you have Facebook & Facebook messenger accounts.
You will be required to have a slip lead for the delivery of your dog as a precaution to them attempting to run after their long and stressful journey , it is recommended to leave this on until they have had at least 24 hrs to de-stress & provide a safe quiet space for them to rest. They are often quite dehydrated as they do not drink and eat as they should do, due to travel sickness and/or anxiety. We therefore recommend unlimited water and first 24hrs give plain rice and chicken to settle their stomachs. Please provide large size puppy pads for toilet training.
DEFRA rules are no animals are to leave the destination address for 48hrs after arrival into the UK as checks can be made to ensure adherence to animal importation regulations.
Terms & conditions
The adopter will agree that any dog adopted through this rescue is under NO circumstances to be either sold on or re-homed again without the express permission of ADGAS.
We OFFER RBU – rescue back up ‘ rescue back up’ for 3 months post adoption & we will take the rescue dog back to our rescue kennels in the UK if the dog is unable to settle into its adoptive home.
If the adopter is having severe behavioural difficulties with their dog, you must immediately contact us and we will endeavour to support and provide help & advice.
The adopter is required to have read and researched issues of adopting Romanian rescue dogs prior to agreeing to adopt one.
IF there is after exhausting all other avenues, there the dog is unable to safely stay in the household, we will endeavour to help you rehome your dog as soon as practically possible (the adopter is responsible for fees incurred for internal transport if above the £225 donated to adopt their dog) transport fare is non refundable.
Potential adopters will acknowledge that before any dog is rehomed to them that they are required to provide a legitimate vet or other professional reference. This is for the safety and well-being of these dogs and part of the home checking process.
Potential adopters will also be required to take out suitable pet insurance before your dog arrives in the country (Proof of this will be required)
Registration of your dog’s microchip is required by law, we recommend either Petlog.co.uk or Pettrac.co.uk databases AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE IN UK.
If the dog should require veterinary treatment within 3 months, the rescue are to be informed prior (with the exception of routine treatments, re-vaccinations, flea treatment, worming etc.)
Under NO circumstances is the dog to be euthanized without the express consent of the rescue, (unless the dog is deemed to be suffering or in major distress by an accredited veterinarian. Proof of this will be required )
The adopter will also note that these dogs are usually stray dogs from the streets or public shelters of Romania and therefore the rescue do not know the exact breed or the history of the dog, apart from what we are told by their rescuer.
The Romanian rescue will give as much information as possible regarding the temperament of these dogs. Sometimes we are able to cat test on request depending on which foster kennels they are in. please adopt at your own discretion, if you have cats, (most of the dogs are okay with cats but the rescue reiterates there is not always a way of testing this.)
The rescue would also advise your own discretion if you have young children – the adoption form requires you to fill this out.
Lastly, any successful adopter will be required to sign the application and this is then agreement to the terms and conditions of this summary.
The rescue retains the right to refuse any application at their own discretion.
Best Wishes and good luck in your search for your new family member.
